When I was writing my post on overcoming fear, I found it hard to narrow down the verses I wanted to use. So as a follow-up, I decided simply to provide a list of 10 additional Bible verses that speak to fear and anxiety. While we all have different levels of anxiety about the recent coronavirus and its economic impact, I don’t know anyone that doesn’t struggle with worry, anxiety, and fear about something.
Paul’s advice from Philippians 4:6-7 is to turn our worries into prayers, and so perhaps having a simple list to reference will help you navigate whatever struggles you may be facing.
Biblical Assurance: God’s Got This!
- Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.“ - Proverbs 3:5
“Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” - Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:13
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” - John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - 1 Corinthians 16:13
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” - Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.” - 1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
The study Bible I use includes notes that add “the difference between worry and genuine concern—worry immobilizes, but concern moves you to action.” It goes on to say that “Worriers…are consumed by fear and find it difficult to trust God…Don’t let worries about tomorrow affect your relationship with God today.”

Thank you for your post. God had a hand in me finding it. I’m in the hospital sitting beside my 96 year old father (a life long Christian) who is slowly slipping away into the arms of God. Reading these words softly to him brought us both the reassurance we needed.

Dear Prayer Partner’s, In search of a better life on the Island’s that are dominated by Biblical assurance to receive life’s necessity each day just to feed myself one percent better everyday, showing myself thankful to God.
This is so needed in this world, confidence in our Lord God, leaning, trusting, on Him and His Ways and Plans. And as the ending prayer speaks of, His Wisdom that far surpasses anything we have. We are so privileged to Be His children, heirs, saints. I’m continually dumfounded how little is taught or talked of about GOD’S WISDOM, offered to us for the asking, it is one of the things we are directly told to ask for. The Wisdom Of God, at our fingertips for the asking, how can we pass that by so often. Accepting someone else’s Wisdom I think is a sign, a feeling, of weakness or need for help. Well, we are in need of Help and we are told He uses us, The Weak. I am retired from a career in Law Enforcment, I used to put on my bullet proof vest in the locker room and thank God for His promise of protection, greater than any man-made invention. And ask for and thank Him for His Wisdom, that day and every day. I know He is the reason I had a Good Career in a difficult field. And am now enjoying my grandsons and getting them into MTB racing; and the Race we run in this life for the Glory of our Loving Father, looking forward to being at Home With Him one day, in His Timing and Wisdom.
